http://veteransbestfriend.org/

Veteran’s Best Friend seeks support for the Military Veteran men and women who suffer with some form of psychological condition and finding homes for shelter & homeless animals so that both may live in dignity as they embark on their journey together. Veteran’s Best Friend will provide our nation’s heroes with accessible, cost-effective animal companionship and (service dog) training.

The goal of Veteran’s Best Friend is to provide the necessary training so that a dog can be the Veterans’ Psychiatric Service Dog and help place appropriate dogs with a Veteran when needed to accomplish this. We view this goal as a win-win for both the dog and Veteran involved. Not only does such a union benefit the dog and Veteran, but it also benefits the community by helping the Veteran. Many Veterans that suffer from psychological conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder find daily activities very challenging, tasks like going to the store or even work can disable them.

For a long time the answer has been medications, but such treatments can be further limiting, have undesired side-effects and long-term use can cause health issues for the Veteran. The use and support of a Psychiatric Service Dog is as natural as it can get, with the hopes of reducing the medications used and helping the Veteran regain their freedom…by having the confidence to go out in public settings with their canine companion.

I don't really agree with the law, but it is "the law of the land."

Isn't it interesting how law enforcement no longer considers it to be its job to enforce laws it doesn't like in the age of Ubama?

Coincidence?

Should’ve said the dog was homosexual, the restaurant couldn’t deny service.

23 years in the Armed Forces gives an American a lot of credibility in my book.I've heard of “service dog” claims that sound pretty dodgy to me but in this case I think the guy deserves the benefit of the doubt.I served,Vietnam era (but not *in* SE Asia),and the ugliest/most dangerous thing I ever saw in uniform was Army chow. Therefore I can't pass judgment on those claiming injury (physical or psychological) so...the service dog is recognized as necessary.

I had an aunt who was deaf from birth. When she was in her 70’s, hearing dogs came on the scene, and we got one for her—an adorable little sheltie. The dog alerted her to such things as the telephone ringing, the doorbell, the fire alarms, or when anyone came too close to her house. Because of “Shookie” as he was named, my aunt was able to live alone and we all felt comfortable with that.

When she was out somewhere with the dog, it wore an orange vest and had an orange collar and leash, which designated him as a “working” dog.

She was allowed in just about everywhere with that dog-—and this was at least 15 or 20 years ago.

This police officer needs some training in the law. He’s acting out of ignorance.

There will be a judge at the Houston rodeo holding court for people charged with being drunk. You will be arrested, tried and convicted on the spot then hauled off to jail.

They will also have drones flying above supposedly to watch cars in the parking lots and keep them from being broken into or vandalized.

We are now officially in a police state.

By calling the police, that guy put his dog in mortal danger.

It would be nice if every restaurant in Houston refused to serve any cops until this one issues a public apology.

You’re not blind, you don’t need a dog.

I guess he would have gotten shot if he had responded.

In my veteran-centered medical practice I recently assisted two vets who served in the sandbox and have PTSD and multiple musculo-skeletal injuries from combat to get service dogs.

I was blessed to meet Murphy and Justice this week when their owners came to see me. I have never seen these guys so happy and content. The dogs are wonderful and what they do for the vets is even better.

I’m getting really agitated reading these stories about stupid cops and their out-of-control behavior. When I was in college in the 1960’s and -70’s I did not believe in violent revolution. Now I do.

Another NAZI Cop. A paramilitary piece of crap spawned by the academies.

1) Civilian Review Boards

2) Residency reequirements

3) Replace Police Chiefs with civilian directors of public safety who answer to elected officials not the FOP or PBA

4) End binding arbitration

5) End 20 and out

6) Volunteer civilian monitors in each and every class in the police academies

7) Take away the military toys like armored personnel carrier from these clowns and give them back to the National Guard where they belong.

8) De-Institutionalize the FOP and PBA. Cops are civil servants. They shouldn’t have a union.

These are the only solutions to the growing spread of NAZI cops.
