It sure peaks the curiosity as to who buried and lost $28k worth of gold coins which was no small amount if it was close to the date of the newest coin of 1894.

Really? Found buried in a can and they are uncirculated?
Seems to me they were circulated a bit before someone STUFFED them in a can and buried them.
Maybe they were still in the US Mint plastic packaging. Nope, they are WAY older than that invention/S
