Do NOT give in.
Do a Chick-fil-a!
People should buy their meat at the Supermarket where its neatly wrapped and no animals get hurt.
Three words:
Nom, Nom, Nom
Wrapped so you couldn’t see the meat. Some sort of opaque material with a label that states “This stuff is really good”.
I believe Townies are really Muslims.
well now that makes sense
as much sense and anything to do with muslims ever has
I wondered about that.
England has a big problem with Muslims anymore.
I thought the same thing. "Townies who recently moved in" seems odd to me. Where I come from, "townies" are people who have lived here for generations, don't want things to change at all, and get upset with "newcomers" with ideas about how everyone should do things differently.
if something with the possibly of offending is to be banned by the govt... does that mean they will ban homos and muslims?
So it wasn’t Michael Rockefeller’s head hung in the butcher shop?
I believe Townies in this context are Londoners. Probably wealthy Londoners with weekend homes or new suburban homes.
Not necessarily; many Muslims prefer to eat Halal foods, which are similar to Kosher as far as freshly killed and prepared meats like chicken, lamb and beef are concerned. Years ago, I was invited to a dinner in Singapore in which most guests were Chinese or Indian; a small number of guests were Malay (and thereby Muslim) so lamb, prepared according to Halal, was also served. Although good, I would liked to have had some mint jelly to go with the lamb.
I would not be surprised if the campaign was started by vegans and their PETA allies. These two groups have been the bane of the English countryside. The “antis” (for anti-hunt activists) have successfully attacked fox hunts (pulling riders off their horses) and driven pheasant hunts (launching rocks at bird hunters or their vehicles).
Do you know the Poulterer's, in the next street but one, at the corner?' Scrooge inquired.'I should hope I did,' replied the lad.
'An intelligent boy!' said Scrooge. 'A remarkable boy! Do you know whether they've sold the prize Turkey that was hanging up there? -- Not the little prize Turkey: the big one?'
'What, the one as big as me?' returned the boy.
'What a delightful boy!' said Scrooge. 'It's a pleasure to talk to him. Yes, my buck!'
'It's hanging there now,' replied the boy.
'Is it?' said Scrooge. 'Go and buy it.'
'You've gone mad!' exclaimed the boy.
'No, no,' said Scrooge, 'I am in earnest. Go and buy it, and tell them to bring it here, that I may give them the direction where to take it. Come back with the man, and I'll give you a shilling. Come back with him in less than five minutes and I'll give you half-a-crown!'
and shamelessly uncovered....
No, in this case it is more likely to be urban ‘liberals’...
Anonymous troublemakers attacking a long established traditional (read: non-halal) business. It does have a certain profile to it.
The "town" in Townie must be a reference to Mecca or Medina.
