Wet tobacco slapped on bee/wasp stings takes the pain out and neutralizes the poison. I keep a can of Skoal in our First Aid kit.

Handed down in our family from our Cherokee Great Grandmother.

Wet tobacco slapped on bee/wasp stings

After running over a yellow jacket nest with the mower, I learned that Anbesol (for mouth sores) works like a charm in that regard as well. Wish I'd known about the tobacco, but then, I didn't have that in the house either.

I also learned that:

- It's faster to go THROUGH fences than over or around them. Especially when 100 of those little stinging @#$#@$@ are chasing you.

- My lovely wife didn't think I was crazy when I started hollering and taking my clothes off (without going into too fine a detail, they got up under my shorts) in the back yard. Guess that sets a pretty high bar for "What ARE you doing", I suppose.

I wonder if that would work on scorpion stings as well ...

I have also used tobacco to stop bleeding (shaving nicks). Also, it sounds like an urban legend, but WD-40 works to cut the pain and reduce the swelling of a bee/wasp sting.
