I am always beating on our vending machine. I kick it and do other violet things to it until my food drops down. Sometimes just to make up for the aggravation I put a note on it that I lost .50

Many years ago, I worked as a construction worker. We had to move vending machines away from the front of a store while we did some renovations at the front entrance. The machines were in the parking lot UNPLUGGED. After about 3 hours we had to put “Out of Order” signs on the machines. The “locals” were getting pissed that the machines wouldn’t work. It kept stealing their money and the machines were taking a beating.

It was not considered the safest neighborhood for us to be working in. You might be able to guess what kind of a business we were renovating.
