Haven't felt one since I was a kid in California... I forget but I was in 4th or 5th grade I think, in San Fernando valley, around 6:00AM if I remember correctly.

I felt a relatively small one in Missouri. It was over before I realised what is was. There was a helicopter flying overhead, and at first I thought that had something to do with it. Had never really felt one before.

All the ceiling tiles in the basement rattled and moved, but nothing really fell, and there was no damage anywhere on our property.

That would be the Sylmar quake, 1971. It was a 6.6. I almost slept through that one as well, but it was right at my normal wake up time. I was in the City of Orange, dreamed I drove my car off the road and that’s why everything was shaking!
