Alabama, LSU top Rivals' Top 25 team rankings

Alabama seems to finish atop Rivals.com's recruiting rankings every February, but this year's haul was especially impressive. Nick Saban and staff landed six five-star recruits, twice as many as any other program in the nation, and compiled one of the finest classes in school history. That crop includes defensive end Da'Shawn Hand, the No. 1 overall prospect in this year's cycle, and linebacker Rashaan Evans, who signed with the Crimson Tide over rival Auburn.

SEC dominates once again with 7 of the top 10 recruiting classes. I wonder if Rashaan Evans needs police protection after choosing Tuscaloosa over his hometown. Thinks are looking up for Tennessee as Butch Jones has another strong class.

So many variables.

The real measure of a recruiting class is thee or four years down the road.

For example, in 2009 South Carolina was #12. In 2010 we were #24. At the end of this past season we were ranked #4 in the final poll.

The “other USC’s” recruiting class was #4 in 2009 and #1 in 2010. Where did they finish out in the final standings for the 2013 season?

This is all a lot of fun to follow, but it really takes a couple years to determine how good the class really is.

typical of the garbage SI puts out these days; don’t do your own work just take the work of others- in this case Rivals- and make it your own....

complete garbage...

You mean the “original” USC? The one in LA since 1880, not that old South Carolina College that changed its name in 1906, right?

Tennessee has got no other way but to go up. Its taken several years to repair the damage Kiffin did to UT. Dooley did the best he could with what carnage was left.

This is all a lot of fun to follow, but it really takes a couple years to determine how good the class really is.

And there's usually never any follow-up, either. This is just fodder for the pundits, naysayers, and fans. No one really knows how these players will develop, or how much upside they might have. Undoubtedly, they're good high school athletes, but that's all we know for now.
