It’s almost useless to go there... They used to have lots of IC’s and components, but not anymore.
Lot of great memories from my DXing days.
I haven’t found much use for RS in many years. I’m surprised it has lasted as long it has.
... and their employees are cluless about the components side. I was trying to get them to recommend a relay or something, and got only blank stares.
I know. I don't know if the market for that dried up. But I've wondered how long a "me too" "Sell phones like everyone else" business model would hold up.
I would think the component market would be expanding again with all the interest in robotics and makers.
But you can buy a cell phone contract and ear bud there.
I loved the old radio shack very few places to buy stuff like that I have a place in fullerton Ford Radio that has lots of stuff than good ness i do recall the battery club card that was kinda fun

They don’t have that stuff anymore because the peeps they hire don’t have a clue what those things are! All they half-way know about is a cell phone and selling ear buds and cases for them. The don’t know what an ohm is.
The used to have “resistor riots” and battery of the month club. Those days are gone. They can still be a niche player, but they have to choose their shots carefully. They have a decent website, but don’t offer in-store pick up, where they might be very competitive.
