“Thought I read that Stephen Hawking said black holes don’t exist?”

Media morons do it again.

What he said was that event horizons probably don’t exist in the form he had previously thought.

I’m going from memory from a show I saw about Hawkins original idea that information is lost in black holes. The guy that disputed this is responsible for string theory and he heard Hawking give the speech where he said information disappears. He fought with Hawkings on this and then, recently, Hawkins kind of tried to straddle two theories in that in some black holes information is lost while in other it isn’t so the net result is no loss of information.

This theory did not satisfy the string theory guy.

Caveat, I’m just repeating what I remember, I never said I understood it.
