“An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper with a history of domestic violence.....”

Is he still on the job?

Isn't it against Federal law to possess a firearm if you've been convicted of domestic violence?

It says “history” of domestic violence, not “conviction”.

If you’re in law enforcement, you won’t get convicted of domestic violence unless you actually kill someone.
