One final thought. In reviewing the fugitive slave cases you cited the flaw was they did allow the feds. to enforce the law in their states. Kind of like Pilate washing of the hands. I understand the reasons but with that reasoning you are opening yourselves up to even more federal intrusion. The old be careful what you wish for comes to mind here.
I guess my point is the law still gets enforced but the state gets to say “hey I wasn't involved in this unconstitutional power grab.” Feel good but the law still stands and is enforced. We need to figure some way to go beyond that idea. I think recently some local sheriffs said they would arrest federal officials who tried to enforce unconstitutional gun laws. They have the authority and it seems they have the right idea how to put the screws to the feds.

I read about those sheriffs and they are Patriots of the first water. We need men like them in state government to fight the power grabs. It's going to be difficult because the grabs have been going on for decades.
