I forgot to mention, the ones done in central Europe are some of the best.

Between global warming nuts being stuck in ice that they went to prove had disappeared, and now sewage coming down the red carpet, God, indeed, has a marvelous sense of humour!

I seem to recall some enviro-wackism in some of his films, perhaps why they’re forgettable to me. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind some action movies (the early Die Hards). Then again, with so many actioners today, they are ludicrous to the extreme, with pretty-boy male model stars who probably get French manicures in between takes. Those are probably why even the least of Seagal’s films are preferable to you guys.

City investigators determined that it was the screen that leaked said sewage.

Now if only we could get Jennifer Lawrence to do a “Carrie”-like finale for the whole crowd. ;-D

Frank Zappa - I’m the Slime

I am gross and perverted
Im obsessed n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little had changed
I am the tool of the government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you

I may be vile and pernicious
But you can’t look away
I make you think Im delicious
With the stuff that I say
I am the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I am the slime oozin out
From your tv set

You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don’t need you
Don’t got for help...no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold

That’s right, folks..
Don’t touch that dial

Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin along on your livinroom floor

I am the slime from your video
Cant stop the slime, people, lookit me go

Oh, believe me, I know about the Encore Westerns channel.
**************************
Seems you know what I meant! Saturday’s in the late ‘40s-early ‘50s meant going to the local theater with neighbor kids, buying a ticket for 10 cents and watching films from about 9am-5pm.

Always a serial, with a new episode each week. A Western or two with Tom Mix, Lash Larue, John Wayne, Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, etc. Maybe a Ma and Pa Kettle. Cartoons. Bomba the Jungle Boy. .....The theater even held drawings for things like bikes and BB-guns.

It was really great for us kids (prior to having TV at home) to spend a whole day being entertained. ....It was ALSO great for the parents, as they knew they had the opportunity to create siblings for those of us at the theater! (The houses in my neighborhood were typically about 700-800 sqft.)

Somewhat correct. In wet pipe fire protection systems, the fire protection water lines stay charged, but have sprinkler heads with seals which melt at temperatures identifiable with fires. When the lights for the cameras heated up the heads, it reads as if they let loose and flooded the red carpet area.

The water in those systems are dead end runs, which have never been purged of oil/rust/grease/construction debris from original construction, nor from subsequent corrosion and bacteriological growth of anaerobic bacteria, (the smelly stuff when exposed to air).

The intent of those systems is to give people enough time to escape with their lives and not fall victim to fire.

I suspect the Beverly Hills Hotel will extract damages both for material damages, torts, and badwill from the entertainment companies that set up their camera hardware there causing the FP system to trip. (PS the systems are tested annually and FA systems monthly.)

That’s exactly what I figured — stagnant water in the sprinkler pipes. But you can’t expect media types to understand this sort of thing.

That era was before my time, but I did have a little neighborhood theater I used to go to, which stretched back to that period. Years later, I went to the library and went through the old newspapers on microfilm, and I documented all the Saturday matinee offerings that the theater screened, back before I was born... Roy Rogers, Bowery Boys, Tim Holt, Jungle Jim, Abbott and Costello, early sci-fi films, etc., and all the various serials that accompanied them. It was a fascinating endeavor.

I spent hundreds of hours, reading old newspapers. Going back a century’s worth of material. From headline stories to advertisements. Got such a taste of the mindset and mentality of America. Learned a heck of a lot more than I ever got from college history courses!

I don’t know why they didn’t just move it as they usually do, instead of deleting it. Dumb.

I don’t care for Hollywood leftism either, but I’m annoyed at the predictable and predictably stupid comments on this thread. There is plenty of good entertainment in movies and television.

You call the Fire Department to clean up after a sewage leak?

I appreciate your diligence in researching such history, as my postings are mostly anecdotal based on personal memories.

Understanding the stimulus and environment that kids of my era and earlier grew up in does much to explain why we differ so much from the more recent generations of liberals who don’t care about history.

You know, I watched the Freddy Kruger series and the first couple of films were cool, but it degenerated into gross gore.

It’s the same with almost all these films; it’s getting more and more and more out of control graphic and I’m tired of it.
