Representing the strongest nation on earth, Americans fought and died for the sake of Vietnam, a weak and distant nation, to prevent communist domination. My brother served in Vietnam, and I have worked with hundreds of Vietnam veterans. I have never spoken to one who is entirely at peace with his service, or who fully credits America's role in trying to prevent the communist takeover of southeast Asia. I am convinced that many of the few thousand people who actually watch MSNBC are Vietnam vets, understandably embittered to this day. These not so fortunate sons, who have not claimed the honor they rightfully won, sit at the feet of MSNBC spikey-haired androgynites, and on their walkers and nasal cannulae, they ask, "What were we there for?"

Veterans and their families can organize and get out the vote in November so we start cleaning the vermin out of our government.

With the current ROE and no real plan, I hate seeing these youngsters getting killed and maimed. Once the “rulers” decide that they’ll stop funding these “police actions”, like VN, there’s no sense in losing any more of our troops. If ya ain’t going to win, don’t go. We are decades away from “winning” the war on terror (from the “lyin’ king”).

Correct, but perhaps only for so long as we continue to maintain a presence. We remain in Korea, Japan and Germany and the results are clear. We left VN, of course, as we did in Iraq and those results are also clear.
The left always seems to clamor "We had no right to get involved!", "Bring the boys home!" It knows it only loses when the U.S. remains and gives the area a chance to flourish.
It appears the author did not conduct sufficient research on Kerry; had she, she might well have concluded he was quite different than Hagel and McCain.
For starters, Kerry consorted with the enemy while the conflict continued. I.e., Kerry was "turned" either during or before the conflict in VN. The other two actually confronted the enemy on our behalf as they had sworn to do.
Importantly, Kerry's childhood family environment, which was exposed to some degree during his presidential candidacy, suggests that he was subjected early on at the family dining room table to anti-American attitudes and pro-Soviet inclinations.
I’m A Viet Nam Vet and I don’t watch MSNBC because it reminds me of the hippies that disgraced me and my fellow Vets as we came back home to this beautiful land. You are right, I am not entirely at peace with my service but I don’t agree with the cultural elites - those with a hippie mind set that have become spokespersons and leaders. Don’t categorize us with them. We have been hijacked by the cultural elites but their principles will not hold. Freedom is much stronger.

My whole city went to Viet Nam, everyone I knew, all my friends, most of my relatives. Most are retired and enjoying their Grand kids after mostly successful careers.
The Viet Vet as victim is BS.
