MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - A Memphis COGIC pastor will plead guilty to a sexual battery charge and his church will shut down, according to his attorney.
Michael Bryant, pastor at Hour of Restoration COGIC in Memphis, was in general sessions court Thursday for what was supposed to be a bond reduction hearing.
Instead, defense attorney Art Horne says he and the prosecution worked out a plea agreement in a "criminal information" that will be brought before a judge in criminal court.
"The case is settled," said Bryant's defense attorney, Art Horne. "He's pleading guilty to sexual battery by an authority figure and the sentence will be six years at 30 percent. And we'll ask for probation."

Church Of God In Christ for those of us that had to go looking to see ... who ?
Any church that can’t survive the loss of a pastor was not centered on Christ in the first place. No one man, other than Jesus Christ himself, should be the foundation of any church.
You are correct and I have seen this happen before.
I am amazed that COGIC female congregant didn’t know that the pastor was going to want to get busy with her. That’s pretty much a given. You are never alone with one.
Adultery is expected from a pastor in those areas.
This seems to have been unimportant with the article about this Church. The Church of God in Christ is (COGIC).
EXACTLY what my preacher’s sermon was on just a couple of weeks ago.
Soon to be replaced by COSMIC (Church of Our Savior and Messiah In Christ)?
Cult?
I have no clue. Never been to a church like this, from the sounds of the news article not sure I’d want to.
“Pentecostal Holiness church founded by Elder Charles Harrison Mason in the late 1890’s.”
