Joe Perry, lead guitarist for the rock band Aerosmith, which is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and who with front-man Steven Tyler is in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, tweeted a defense of the Duck Dynasty controversy concerning anti-gay behavior saying, “More crackin’ down on Freedom of Speech in the US or what?”

In a follow-up tweet, Perry said, “Seems to me people have a right to express their opinions & religious beliefs. But that doesn’t mean we have to agree.”

First Uncle Ted, now Joe Perry. At this point in their careers, it probably won't have much effect, but thanks for the support of Phil and the "former" right to say what you want concerning your beliefs. Big difference between not agreeing with someone and trying to destroy them because you disagree.

I met Joe Perry back in the ‘90s...Pump Tour I believe.

He flew right seat for a while. he’s a down-to-earth, regular guy. A rarity in the music business.

I seem to remember reading something about Uncle Ted getting Joe and Steve Tyler involved in shooting sports/hunting. I could be wrong.

I heard Mark Steyn mention yesterday that Paul Stanley (KISS) also supports Phil Robertson’s right to free speech but that Nikki Sixx (former Motley Crue bassist) called his statements hate speech. Mark then asked what kind of rock-n-roll rebel would whine about hate speech? I thought Nikki would be much wiser, especially since he was actually declared dead for two minutes back in 1987 after a heroine overdose and is actually alive 26 years later.
