Emily Miller gets her guns after book signing at the NRA Headquarters Range

Emily Miller didn't start out as a gun girl. She wasn't a hunter, she wasn't a competitive shooter or a collector by any means. She was simply a woman who didn't feel safe.

Here's how she put it in a "Washington Times" column:

I want a gun. I don’t feel safe living in Washington, D.C. and want to protect myself. I’m starting today by going down to City Hall to find the gun permit office to tell them, “I want a gun.”

God bless Ms. Miller for enduring the asininity of the "system" in d.c. Even after finally getting her firearm I'm thinkin' it'll only do her any good in her residence. Purty sure there ain't no CCW in d.c. (Unless your special. Real special.) I read here chronicle of the adventure. Absurd is an understatement.

Sad to say but you shouldn’t “feel safe” living anywhere, if by feeling safe you mean you don’t feel like you need to be prepared to defend yourself. Unless you are a law enforcement officer or you live with one, chances are if you are attacked you will be solely responsible for your own defense for minutes. Maybe only a few minutes if you are lucky. Maybe several tens of minutes if you live a little more rural. Maybe your on your own time might be measured in hours if you are very remote. Where I’m at, best I could reasonably hope for might be on the order of 4 to 5 minutes. Worst case, but still very possible might be 25 to 30.

Response times have been long for a long time. What I was referring to was her access to her weapon. Not sure but I think d.c. has some sort of storage requirement. In either case, more than likely in d.c. if you’re away from home, your on your own and unarmed unless your “special”. Besides which, the police are under no obligation to protect “you”. Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to you and your family.

MY wife didn't start out as a "gun gal" either. When we were dating she initially did not like guns. I told her if we were going to be married there would be guns in the house and occasionally they may need to be loaded. I taught her how to unload and load each of them and how to "safe" them.

I took her out to the range and showed her how to shoot and clean each of them.

she is not a "gun nut" but does understand that they are tools and can't stand the way the left portrays people that support the second amendment.

Cleveland Pays Out Settlement to Concealed Carrier Whose Gun Was Wrongly Confiscated

December 23 2013
by Dan Cannon

Derrick Washington was trying to be a good citizen when he called police to report a shooting in his neighborhood.

Washington met with officers once they arrived. At some point during the conversation, Washington told officers he had a license to carry and he had a gun in his car, which was not in the immediate area where he was talking with officers.

Police allege that Washington told them he had two drinks that evening, but Washington denies that.

Police arrested Washington, who was the person that called them and not connected to the shooting in any way, confiscated his gun from his car, and held him in jail for three days.

Eventually the district attorney’s office decided not to press charges and Washington was released.

Washington took the city to court over the incident. The city agreed to settle, paying Washington $1,000 along with all of his attorney’s fees and court costs.

While the monetary amount is fairly small, it sounds like this incident might for police officers to rethink how they seize and hold weapons. According to The Plain Dealer,

No.

Until the penalty comes out of the offending pigs’ wallets, they aren’t going to “rethink” a darned thing.

She’s a good writer, smart, a solid supporter of the 2nd Amendment and the Bill of Rights, and is pretty easy on the eyes, too. The total package. A small package, but she’s got it all :-)

Cops in New York Using Gun Classifieds Site ARMSLIST To Trap Gun Owners? Maybe.

This interesting post on ARMSLIST was brought to our attention by a reader.

Here is the text from the ad, posted from an anonymous account (spelling errors part of original post),

BEWARE THERES A SCUMBAG ON HERE SELLING MULTIPLE CALS IN ROCHESTER AND SURROUNDING AREAS!! THIS SCUMBAG AGREED TO MEET THEN I WAS SURROUNDED BY POLICE. THEY SIMPLY INTERIGATED ME AND CHECKED MY PERSONALS. THEY ARE ROUNDING UP GUN OWNERS TO SEE WHAT YOUR BUYING AND WHAT YOU MAY BE FEEDING,ALONG WITH RECORDING YOUR VEHICLE INFORMATION WHICH LEADS TO RESIIDENCE… THIS GUY HAS MANY POSTINGS OF FIREARMS AND RANTING POSTS I ASSUME TO BLEND IN WITH THE CROWD. THESE COMMUNISTS PIGS ARE GETTING SMARTER EVERYDAY! DONT BUY AMMO ON ARMS LIST UNLESS ITS FROM A REPUTABLE DEALER. IF YOU PICS OF AMMO CANS OR BOXES OF AMMO TAKEN OFF THE INTERNET…STAY AWAY. MY ENTIRE NIGHT WAS WASTED AND NOW THEY HAVE MY PERSONAL INFO ..I REPEAT DO NOT BUY FROM THESE CLOWNS THERE RECORDING EVERYONE TO STRIP YOU IN THE FUTURE AND ARREST NON COMPLIANT AND REGISTERED ARMS AS FOR THE GUY POSTING THESE ROT IN HELL.

Hmmm, definitely interesting to say the least.

On some level it seems to make sense if you want to catch gun owners with unlicensed guns in a state with registration.

Remember, New York has a gun registry. Attempting to buy 9mm ammo but the only gun you have registered is a .45. Could that be enough for cops to search your home? In pretty much every other state I’d say absolutely not, but remember this is New York we’re talking about.

It was widely reported a couple of weeks ago that New York City residents had started receiving surrender/confiscation notices about long guns that might be illegal under city law, so perhaps there is a state wide crack down on guns.

Of course, we have no way to verify whether this post is true or if it’s just some classic interwebz trolling.
