Much of the media always hated Nixon (at least since his 1950 Senate race, if not before), but the all-out war on him began in the spring of 1973 when the Watergate cover-up began to unravel thanks to Judge Sirica, James McCord and others. By this time in 1973 we had gone through the Ervin hearings on TV, the "Saturday Night Massacre" and the beginnings of impeachment proceedings.

If the media was balanced, Obama's numbers would be lower than Nixon's--none of the Nixon scandals killed anyone, whereas Fast & Furious and Obama's ho-hum response to the attack in Benghazi did result in Americans being killed...and Obamacare is destined to cut a lot of people's lives short (either because they lose coverage and can't get the medicine they need, or the death panels decide their lives are not worth saving).
