Olivia DeHavilland is still kicking at age 97. I admit I didn’t like her character, Melanie, very much....she was too sappy and overly sweet.

I remain surprised that “Gone With The Wind” is still shown in this politically correct insane world.

Love GWTW. I was a lonely child and books were my friends. I took comfort in re-reading certain books, and turned to GWTW frequently. I think I've read it about 14 times now, and just watched the movie a few weeks ago when MGD was away on retreat.

.As for Melanie, she appeared sappy and sweet, but she even gained Scarlett's love and respect because Melanie was everything Scarlett had been trained for and could not be....and what Scarlett so admired in her mother....ever the lady to the world, kind and gentle, but smart and tough as nails.
