Urbane liberals are joining black-booted skinheads to protest on the streets of Kiev, but if the Orange Revolution of nine years ago is to be repeated, they need a leader to unite them.

Enter Vitali Klitschko, a towering world boxing champion with a doctorate in sports science, who is looking increasingly like the opposition's most powerful contender.

Protesters and commentators saw Klitschko emerging on Tuesday as a leader-in-waiting, as the opposition digs in to unseat President Viktor Yanukovich after he ditched a trade pact with the European Union to revive economic ties with former Soviet master Moscow.

Yulia Tymoshenko is currently being held in the Kharkiv-based Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 under police surveillance, where since May 2012 she has been receiving treatment after being diagnosed with a spinal disc herniation.

Meet Duma Deputy Nikolai Valuev...

(He's the one to the left of the Bigfoot hunters and young witness.)

How about this,
Yulia a “fearless, energetic and honest politician. You can’t see lots of those today . . extremely gifted politician. I have met and worked with many world politicians and Tymoshenko belongs to the most gifted ones . . . a shining example of Ukraine’s democratic spirit . . . a patriot, regardless of which post she holds . . . When she works, she shines. She is on fire, she is burning. And most of our politicians are barely smoldering, emitting smoke. That’s why her energy, strengths and beliefs attract people . . . she is the only man in the Ukrainian politics, very charismatic . . .a strong personality. I think there are not so many charismatic leaders like her in the world. I think there are efficient people who govern their countries pretty well, but charisma is a unique feature . . . ready for presidency more than anyone else. She is some sort of matrix of a leader . . .To my mind, she is a very unusual politician as for these days. I think we live in time, when there are a lot of good governors, good people who want to serve their country. But there are only few who can be called leaders, heroes. I think that Yulia Tymoshenko is one of them. In this world that is lacking great people, she is an exception”

I dunno, but that’s what they say.

With is health condition, he won’t be able to go toe to toe with Klitschko.

In 2010, Valuev’s doctor went on record saying that he is treating Valuev for “serious bone and joint problems”.

Valuev underwent two operations that required at least six months on the sidelines.

Valuev confirmed in 2013 that medical advice was one of the reasons he is not planning to make a comeback in boxing.

Don’t mess with Almaty Wild Man.

Is real. Neanderthal, Cromagnon or proto-human living in Caucasus.

In college during the 80s I reviewed a book by a Russian about the Almaty wild men. The Soviets build a fence around their habitat, thousands of square kilometers, to keep them in. Researchers would place trinkets in the rocks at the borders and would return days later to retrieve the trade. Usually animal bone crafted items and what not.

I started to laugh at the notion of "sports science," only to realize there's more intellectual content in that than anything President You Didn't Build That ever studied.

Go Ukrainians!

My daughter met Vladimir in Nashville along with his fiancé, Hayden Panetierre, who lives in a house by a recording studio where my daughter writes songs. She said Vladmir was intelligent and very nice.
