It has been a while. Two originals composed a few days apart. Looking at them now, it is clear to me that sometimes one's environment can either positively or negatively affect one's state of mind.

Watching the sea in the morning
Out there...
There are no urgent phone calls
No important faxes
Pressing deadlines
Disruptive students
Only the steady roll
And the thunderous whisper
Stay a while
Relax
It can wait

All slowly burning out
Machines make pretty noises
Simplistic video display, bells, whistles
Discord for the disaffected
Here, even the infirm come to play
Drop their money down a vortex
Watch the show, hear the jingles
Ashes, ashes
Down, down, down
They only come into focus
As they pass you by
The Chainsmoker
The morbidly unkempt
The 30 year old wearing teenage clothing
The dream chaser-never catching
All dressed up, nowhere to go
Wind up in the same place
Here
Moving on to the next distraction
All have at least one thing in common
