Argentine union members on Thursday clashed with environmentalists protesting the construction of a plant by U.S.-based seed giant Monsanto.
Construction of the corn-processing plant was halted in October when environmentalists began disrupting entry of supplies. Activists oppose the use of genetically modified crops, which Monsanto produces and (environmentalist Vanina) Barboza says theyll continue to block roads and access to the plant.

Wonder if the unions will try the same with Boeing?
Don’t know. But in this case I think we should sell flamethrowers and multiple rocket launchers to both sides.
Stupid people doing what stupid people do best. This is just another reason why there will always be a third world.
Unions vs enviros at a corn processing plant? They could cause a Popcorn shortage.
“to both sides”
You are against modern seed genetics??
I am against monopolies built on modification of patent laws brought about through bribary and corporate welfare.
If you harbor some delusion that Monsanto (or ADM) got where they are through research and development, educate yourself at least a bit.
It’s not their products, it’s their behavior.
I am totally in favor of the GMO technology. It has saved millions of lives around the world. I used to farm and used some very toxic substances to control corn insects. The GMO technology has greatly reduced the need for that as one example.
As far as the corporate structure of Monsanto and ADM; I don’t like the power that these large corporations have in any industry.
Not sure if the best solution to address it however.
It isn’t just how much power they have, its also how they came to have it.
