While potentially interesting, I call BS on most of these email things. Until I see references, I call into question every single one of those “statistics”.
Yep. Think about it: It's no longer necessary to get caught attempting to execute a crime, it's now enough just to think about it. The reality is Mike Madigan, John Cullerton and the rest of Democrats running Springfield and the rest of the State do far worse than Blagojevich ever did, and they continue to get away with it! Why isn't Mike Madigan in jail? (rhetorical question of course...)
IMO, the only good thing that became of the whole Blagojevich trial is the fact that Jesse Jackson Jr. is now sitting in jail, and his loud-mouthed wife Sandy will be following him.
The scourge on the Jesse Jackson (Sr.) family has been a very long time in coming. The only thing that would be better is if Mr. Shakedown Artist himself were rotting in jail.
This says it all.
“The Land of Lincoln , where our governors make our license plates.”
Yes it was awful. It was reported that the screams were heard blocks away.
Actually, it's "The Land of Lincoln, Where our Ex-Governors Make Our License Plates."
In fact, the back of each QSL card I send has the following history of Illinois Governors that have gone to jail:
It is a fact that 4 of Illinois last 7 Governors have gone to Federal Prison for political corruption. They are:Otto Kerner. 1961 1968. He resigned to become a judge (go figure!), then was convicted of bribery related to his tenure as governor. He spent three years in Federal Prison.
Dan Walker. 1973 1977. He pled guilty to bank fraud and other charges in 1987 related to his business activities after leaving office. He spent 18 months in Federal Prison.
George Ryan. 1999 2003. After leaving office he was convicted of racketeering for actions as Governor and Secretary of State. He was best known for the Licenses for Bribes scandal which resulted in 6 children from the same family being killed on I-94 in Wisconsin. He served 7 years in Federal Prison.
Rod Blagojevich. 2003 2009. Blago as hes known tried selling Barack Obamas Senate Seat to Jesse Jackson Junior (who is also now on his way to jail) after Obama won the Presidency. The investigation showed that Blago put nearly every political appointment and office up for sale in Illinois. Hes now serving 14 years in Federal Prison teaching History Class to inmates.
So next time you hear me say Illinois is up for grabs! youll know what it means. (Sometimes theres no takers we just cant give this State away anymore!)
“Rod Blagojevich (sp?) remains in prison for at least another 14 or 15 years.”
Actually, Blago is up for his court appeal next month. It goes before the Judge and if he wins the appeal he gets a new trial, if the prosecutor decides to do another trial all over. If not, he’s free. Will be interesting to see what happens here.
Given Judge Zagel's excellent track record, the likelihood of Blago getting a new trial is somewhere between slim and none. I think he loses the appeal.
Having said that, I'll simply reiterate what I said above: Blago's a blow-hard. He committed no crime. The charge by former special prosecutor Fitzgerald was that his office "stopped a crime in progress."
Before I continue on, I think Blago's a piece of shat. I really do. Literally destroyed this state. However he committed no crime. He certainly committed no crime worse than any other Illinois Democrat (and many Illinois Republican's) do every single day.
If Blago remains in jail, then I'd argue Madigan, Cullerton and a whole lot more need to go there with him!
Reading the initial post, I was thinking about RINO Kirk as well. But it can be argued that he is a federal, not state, official. The other two you mentioned, jjotto, are definitely state officials, so the initial post is incorrect in that respect at least.
Leftist? The REPUBLICAN POLITICIAn are the ones who are LEFTISTS in Illinois...For Example our new GOP Minority Leader, just got bought............
SEIU invests in Illinois House Republican Minority Leader Jim Durkin

There are plenty of leftists with an R behind their name.
I had always hoped to live long enough to watch the rats stew in the total defeat of their ideas. I now realize they have inoculated themselves from consequences through government just as Freddie/Fannie did for the mortgage market.
The few benefit from the profits and the masses pay for it all.
Kirk is a federal official, there is no arguing that he’s a state official.
Anyway, chain emails are stupid and filled with misleading nonsense.
bkmk
Illinois seems to breed really bad Presidents.
Thanks for the ping!
I believe the point is that there aren’t enough Republicans to make any difference and the Dems get everything they want.
