Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords is teaming up with Sandy Hook mother Nicole Hockley to push gun control on the first anniversary of the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary.

The crime took place on December 14, 2012, and beginning on November 14, 2013, Giffords and Hockley are encouraging schools to talk to students about "gun violence."

According to The Sacremento Bee, Giffords and Hockley are asking teachers to talk to K-12 students about "[responding] to tragedies like Newtown and working to prevent them from happening in the future."

How about not celebrating gun violence attacks by marking the anniversaries?

No one ever discusses the anniversary of the Fort Hood Massacre. I think we are coming up on the magic 5th anniversary of that.

3,000 dead, mostly in NYC, and the only people who got media attention were about a dozen Democrat wives.

I have compassion fatigue about all of this.

Yes, we have compassion that Congresswoman Giffords is disabled and was almost killed. Yes, we have compassion for all of the victim families of Newtown.

But, in Alinsky fashion, all of these people are deciding to not let a crisis go to waste, and pushing liberal gun control policies, which would not stop these types of shootings.

And as tragic as these shootings are, the loss of life in such rare shootings pales by comparison to the number of deaths in the ghetto every year from gang violence.

But Giffords and all of them have not one word to say about the youth gangs laying waste to vast areas of our major cities. They have not one word to say about ghetto culture, in which all slights, real and imagined, are settled with violence and guns.

The fact is that the criminal element will never obey laws. The shooters at Newtown, Columbine, Virginia Tech, etc. were all in violation of numerous gun laws before they even started their rampages.

They may think that they are doing some good in the cause of gun control, but, they are really useful idiots for the liberals on this issue.

...and bans on exploitation of crimes/tragedies, especially by parents and ex-politicians attempting to cash in regardless of their claims of ‘outreach.’

If Gabby and Nicole don’t like this country and it’s Bill of Rights, I suggest that they get the **** out!

One of the big Democrat talking points about ObamaCare is that it’s “constitutional,” blessed by the Supreme Court, and is the “settled law of the land.”

Well okie dokie lefties...The Second Amendment is constitutial, blessed by the Supreme Court, and has been the settled law of the land for the last 222 years almost 223.

Sooooooo, how about taking your goofy silly little protest and stuff it up your obama.

I'm MADD (well actually FADD Father Against Drunk Driver) My daughter was killed by a drunk drive three years ago. Since then approximately 30,000 peole have died due to drunk drivers! Latest figures for 2012 show that one person every 56 minutes dies from DUI offfenders.

Of course we must put the most impertant facts on the front burner! will gun control ameliorate these deaths?

When has ANY mass shooter been conforming to the laws that already exist?

Passing new ordinances to “prevent” these mass shootings is a totally ineffectual response, and in fact, makes the next assault of unarmed people in confined spaces all the more likely.

The risk to the perpetrator, before he accomplishes his objective (and it is almost always a male who is the perp) is actually very low, and the chances of detection before opening fire are equally low. But if there is any apprehension that that the crowd at which he may direct his fire has any members that are armed and well able to shoot back, the risk factor for the perp is vastly increased.

Not a perfect solution (locking up or otherwise controlling the actions of all the unstable persons would be a much better one), but this is not a perfect world.

Archie Bunker solution to prevent hijackers on planes - issue all the passengers a loaded sidearm when they board, then when a hijacker tries to get bold, he will have several dozen sights trained upon him. Makes people much more polite.

I’m finally willing to compromise. Let’s take guns away from the feral government and leftists. Maybe that will help. If it doesn’t, we can start chopping off their hands.

Yet another talking vegetable. Why can't people like this just stay home and leave normal folk to enjoy our lives? I mean, I'm sorry they had a rough patch, but everyone goes through tough times, although most of us don't see it as a license to run everyone else's life according to our deflicted perspective.

And, "Yes," I coined the term "deflicted." It's an evocative melange of "defective" and "afflicted," and I'll soon be campaigning for its inclusion as a new word in the dictionary.

As you were, grunts.

One of the most disgusting things gun-grabbers do is drag out brain-damaged gunshot victims and put them on stage like puppets to mouth words they do not understand. The abuse of James Brady and Gabby Giffords is appalling.

Exactly. Giffords and Newtown both perpetrated by people with mental problems.
