Windows doesn’t exactly take other windows programs seemlessly either. The author is assuming that all technology offerings in the office are on the latest bleeding edge version of Windiws.

NONE of our work computeres are on Wndows 8 ‘whater’ yet. New company machones are still being purchased on Windows 7.
The rollout of Windows 8, whole not as bad as AFA rollout, stunk to high heaven. Still lookimg at Windows 8 versions with a cautious eye.
Integrating 8 machines into a 7 anfpd older environment will be time intensive...
Personally, I switched to Apple three years ago, and until something really changes I'm not going back. I still have to run a Windows partition for some work stuff, but it runs way faster on my MacBook than it ever did on my last windows based laptop.
A buddy of mine “upgraded” to Windows 8. He hates it so much, he paid a significant amount of money to get a copy of Win7 for his laptop.
OTOH, the company I work for has migrated everyone to iPads. It works fine for the majority of people who are primarily text and web oriented, but for me, who is a photo and video person, I’m stuck with my old PowerMac G5 for all eternity. They hate paying for software to such an extent that they found a company that sells used G5 machines cheap so they can replace computers for less than the cost of new software licenses.
