The top five as of the dateline are:
Marcus Mariota QB Oregon
Jameis Winston QB Florida State
Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M
Bryce Petty QB Baylor
AJ McCarron QB Alabama
I can't help but mention that two of the frontrunners are from from Texas. The last two winners, of course, were Texans: Johnny Manziel and Robert Griffin III.

State pride aside, I don't see a repeat for Johnny Manziel, although the loss to Auburn doesn't seem so bad in retrospect, and I think Baylor's Petty may stumble with the tough schedule ahead. As things stand right now, Winston looks like the favorite in the wake of Oregon's loss last night.

After Mariota’s choke last night, I think the top three contenders are, not in any order, Jameis Winston, Johnny Manziel and Bryce Petty.

I do not think McCarron is good enough as QB by himself that he should win the Heisman.
