I remember being forced to teach my daughter about the ‘birds and the bees’ when she was six. She was being exposed to too much and I wanted her to learn it from me. (Neighbor kids’ parents were swingers, then there was what she was being told by her peers in school.)
I kept it very basic and technical, she thought it was all disgusting, and she had no further interest for several years. If she had questions, I answered them as honestly and as simply as possible.
A few months later, we began to homeschool and that gave her some breathing room. Thankfully, she got to enjoy her childhood. Sex was not a focus of her childhood. Learning to read, adventures with her little brother, science projects, and cooking with mom were important to her.

Kudos on going the homeschooling route. We’ve been doing it for 8yrs. now. It’s great.
