I’ve heard soaking blades in alcohol prevents rust/ corrosion and makes them last longer.

Also keep your wife away from them. Those hairy legs kill them.

There is water in alcohol unless it is the 99.9% pure alcohol variety. I do not believe that soaking metal in water would prevent corrosion. It would likely speed up the process of corrosion.

If rust is the problem, someone should make one with ceramic blades.

I did an experiment years ago because I knew the rust was dulling the blades, I put vegetable oil in a coffee mug and sat it on my bathroom sink and after I finished shaving I patted the razor dry and put it in the mug of oil til the next use. Blades stayed very sharp and last a long time, was a smoother shave too.

I don’t have that much facial hair (just enough to look white trash) so I just use a cordless.
