On Oct. 16, Congress gave President Obama a blank check. That’s right. For the next three months, our chief executive will be able to increase the national debt as much as he wants, and as a practical matter, no one will be able to stop him.
A newly enacted law, H.R. 2775, temporarily suspends the U.S. government’s statutory debt limit and shifts Congress‘ borrowing power to the president. This is a radical and unprecedented delegation of power that should trouble every American.

I thought this article was an interesting argument that the tactic used by the GOP House Leader may be a bad idea and perhaps even unconstitutional.
I couldn't find the Washington Post's policy on excerpts and quoting the whole article, so I chose to only excerpt.
So Jack Lew can stock up with his magical accounting gimmickry and run the next debt battle out past the 014 election so the dems don’t have to answer any embarrassing questions. Too bad they don’t hold government accountants to the same standards that are in the real world.
The US Congress is useless except for self-aggrandizement,
whoring, drinking, and treason.
They are the most disgusting group of people in the
history of the USA.
By law, the Congresss has opened every taxpaying citizen’s pocketbook and wallet, and given entrance to the thieving members of the welfare class.
They really, truly, should be hung.
