Totally worth the extra $1,000 to send email and update facebook. And be able to do fewer math calculations in excel

As one who hates, loathes, and f*rts in the general direction of Microsoft, I must admit that windows 7 (used at work) is not bad at all. It’s interesting, however, that our company now allows employees to choose their computers every replacement cycle - and PC populations are diminishing as fast as children in liberal households.
This is not to exonerate Apple, however, Mountain Lion had a number of very irritating “improvements”, and iOS7’s new graphics make me think they’re hiring the engineers that Microsoft fired.
Not since the pre-Win95 days has there been such a stark contrast between the Mac vs. PC and a plainly obvious winner in that age old 'which is better?' debate. It's the Mac by far.
Anyone buying a new PC system running MSFT Windows 8.1 (or upgrading to 8.1) and using an Android phone or Nexus tablet is just flat wrong. It's so bad as to be embarrassing.
I got Windows 8.1, and it works fine, got it set up to my liking, and I works for me 100%. Yeah, I hated it at first, but now I “get” it, and all that I don’t like about it, I just don’t use.
Of course that software isn't compatible with Windows 7.
Thanks for the article.
I have a Mac Mini (Mountain Lion) and I run Windows 7 as a Virtual machine via Parallels 8.
I use two monitors at home, and occasionally a third monitor if I need a bit more space.
I went Mac when Windows 8 came out. WTF was Microsoft thinking?
My computer really works well as I have Microsoft Office Professional installed and use multiple programs easily.
OS 10.8 is pleasant to use, syncs to my iPad and iPhone instantly and serves music and movies to the house entertainment system via Apple TV.
If Mavericks seems good, I’ll do the free upgrade. Sounds like a few nice features.
Will I ever go back to a 100% Windows computer? Who knows...
I put this small computer into my computer bag, add a keyboard and mouse, a 16” USB monitor and a 15’ poser cord. It’s remarkably portable and has two 750 GB internal drives (1.1 TB used). I have never been so happy with a computer as I have two great OS in one very small package.
It’s a tremendous machine that I never would have purchased if Microsoft had not screwed up it’s OS with Windows 8.
If they didn’t give OSX a ludicrous 10 on the bogus “value” scale these scores would probably be identical.
lol
hilarious
scores APP stores as a plus and then gives Windows no score for web browsing, as if no one has ever used the internet from Windows. No one has ever shared anything on Windows or used social media from Windows I guess.
Thanks for the ping. After being on Ubuntu for a few months now, I see no reason to try to stay on the Windows Update Treadmill, and even less reason to buy Apple. Cost-Benefit analysis gets very obvious when the cost is almost $zero compared to the competition. Added to that is better virus protection than Windows plus Ease of Updating without having to buy a completely new OS.
The idea that PC’s, tablets and phones should all use the same OS is ridiculous
Ubuntu rocks for me too
If you were a tech pundit who wrote that exact phrase you just replied to me, you’d be the most laughably maligned journalist on the Internet today.
I’m very sorry.
I don’t care, I don’t see where I’m wrong
I don’t even see where you explained yourself.
Why is it ‘ridiculous’?
