President Obama’s Education Department recently announced that it is sending 39 lesser-known colleges a total of $20.1 million this year as part of the government’s “Strengthening Institutions Program.”

The grant money may be used for planning, faculty development, building an endowment, or boosting academic programs. …

President Obama said his college ratings system will help students and families select schools that provide the “best value. After the ratings system is well established, “Congress can tie federal student aid to college performance so that students maximize their federal aid at institutions providing the best value,” the White House website says.

In other words, the federal government can’t set tuition rates, but it can use federal student aid as leverage. As the White House put it, “President Obama’s plan will connect student aid to outcomes, which will in turn drive a better, more affordable education for all students.” …

I can just guess what'll come out when we finally get to see what's under the covers of this one.

I can only imagine the “underwater basket weaving” and “advanced nose picking” majors that the Obamadork will encourage.

After all, he wants intellectuals as talented as he.

More welfare, more debt, more degradation from within.

Total disaster looming for America.

There's been nothing like this since the fall of Rome.

President Obama’s plan will connect student aid to outcomes

Ding. There's the winner, right there.

Get the colleges addicted to the free "aid", then the gov't will ensure that the right outcome is met by said college.

Desired outcome to be determined. But, I'd take bets on something "Medicine-Related", since good people will be leaving that particular profession in droves.

The left of the 60’s infiltrated the college system and today we have many many schools which don’t teach about “dead white guys” but instead teach about the “evil” US and how we should be part of the global collective. I assume that is what Barry is going to further control - what is taught in schools and who teaches it. Give the schools money and then examine the racial makeup of the administration, faculty and student population. Withdraw the money until the right demographic cohort is attending. Examine the curriculum for leftist viewpoints, reward those colleges that are suitable left and withhold funds from those who admit students on merit and teach balanced history of the US. As if colleges weren’t already to the left enough. Say, I wonder how many Christian colleges scored that 20 million?

St. Mary of The Woods is a Catholic women’s college - maybe they must be brought to heel with money?

Cutting the military and sending millions to liberal colleges. The colleges are not going to fight for our freedoms.

Oh no, the courses will be public administration courses and ethnic studies. The evaluation will be based on graduation rate and job placement, which since the job placements will be with government agencies, commissions and NGOs, is a rather incestual relationship. Obama is promising more of what we saw with the IRS.
