A Dear Abby column this week featured a concerned mom who had learned that the condoms she was buying for her 17-year-old daughter were being given to her daughters friends.
The mom, who was proud that her daughter felt comfortable enough to confide in her, was concerned about the price of supplying multiple sexually-active teenagers with condoms, but alas, she considered that perhaps this expense was worthwhile if I can help to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. The question, from Safe Sex Advocate in Iliinois, went like this:
DEAR ABBY: My 17-year-old daughter confided that she has become sexually involved with her boyfriend and asked if I would buy condoms for her. I agreed that she should protect herself and bought her a box of 12.
A week later, she informed me that she needed another 12-pack. When I asked why she had run out so quickly, she confessed that she has been supplying them to her girlfriends. Apparently they cant confide in their moms the way she can with me.
My dilemma is that condoms are expensive and, on one hand, I dont want to be the one supplying a group of kids. On the other hand, if I can help to prevent an unwanted pregnancy, maybe its worth it. What do you think I should do? Safe Sex Advocate in Illinois
How do you think dear old Abby responded? Basically, she broadcasted a free advertisement for Planned Parenthood. Heres how it went:
DEAR SAFE SEX ADVOCATE: If your daughters friends are old enough to be sexually active, they and their boyfriends should also be responsible enough to provide their own birth control. Generally, teens do not need the permission of their parents to receive information about it. Because you want to help them avoid unwanted pregnancies (as well as STDs), direct them to the nearest Planned Parenthood Center for low-cost or no-cost birth control and instruction on how to use it. There are 18 of these health centers in Illinois. To find the one closest to you, go to PlannedParenthood.org.
A few reasons why referring vulnerable teens to Planned Parenthood may not have been Abbys brightest moment:
-Planned Parenthood makes a lot of money off of sexually active teens who do become pregnant and pursue abortion.
The Washington Times: abortion continues to account for the overwhelming majority of Planned Parenthoods services for pregnant women, making up 92 percent of the organizations pregnancy services.
-Planned Parenthood helps to keep parents out of the reproductive health choices of their daughters by encouraging girls to seek judicial bypass in regions where parental consent is required before an abortion is performed on a minor. That means Planned Parenthood wants to help your daughter procure an abortion and profit off the price tag from whomever is paying for it without your knowledge or consent. Planned Parenthood markets itself as pro-parent, but when parents get in the way of profits, they hit the bottom of the totem pole.
-Planned Parenthood has been caught failing to report sexual abuses on underage girls (like those to whom condoms were being provided by the mom above). No loving parent especially not the type of concerned mother who wrote to Abby wants their daughter to go through the type of anguish (like statutory rape) which Planned Parenthood has been documented perpetuating on minor girls.
Planned Parenthood is undoubtedly grateful for Abbys free commercial, but if the concerned mom knew the facts about Planned Parenthood that Abby forgot to mention, maybe she would think twice before sending minors to them.
Giving them to your daughter is one thing, handing them out to her friends is something very different. What an idiot.
Maybe she wanted to put them over her head so she wouldn’t havre to listen to the bloviations of our frckless leader..
Data revealed that Rush’s “friend” Sandra Fluke needed 13 new condoms a day to satisfy her “needs”.
If getting plowed on Friday night by her boyfriend in the back of the SUV that the absent father bought for this darling princess is considered “entertainment”, perhaps Abby can recommend that mommy go and buy her some recreational ecstasy?
Dare I state the obvious?
Half of the people who are aborted are female.
Is mama hosting the orgy and trying to get in on the swinging action?
Kids need parents, not “besty fwiends”.
YES!!!
Was it ever determined if Sanda Fluke was indeed a participant in the Georgetown Slutwalk PRIOR to her national attention?
