I think that Boner will remain as "Weeper" of the House. But in Nov next year I think he is toast.

I wouldn’t doubt Boehner retires.

Yes - stick a bone up his ass and let the jackals drag him away.

If this budget capitulation passes without a majority of his own caucus, that is a de facto vote of no confidence. I suspect he would resign his speakership shortly afterward.

Yes, but not before Nov. 2014. The way the GOP-E will see this is, he did a great job.

Not in our lifetime ... Nancy’s back as the Reid’s lap dog to give guidance.

No... But if there was any justice there would be a ‘shake-up’.

Matters not to me any more.

There is no longer a Republican party, and I eagerly await a real opposition party.

Clean the whole mess out and start over.

That's the only way.

Who knows who will surface, but people will.

The majority of GOP in the house will keep him. We need to shake that number up in 2014. Or we need to bolt the party completely.

Anyone know how many votes it takes to force a new election for the Speaker? Can some of the votes come from the minority party?

IDK. There seems to be too many “repubs” who would rather fold to the Dems than stand on principle and fight. They have no stomach for it. They want to give Reid and the Zero King everything they want.

I shake my head at the comments on this thread... Does any Freeper think he’d have done a better job that John Boehner with the challenges he’s faced? What could/should he have done? Speaker of the House with a bare majority and a hopeless Dem-controlled Senate and a completely dysfunctional President/Executive Branch — that’s the worst job in all of DC. I know he isn’t a tea party loyalist, but I think he and Cantor and McCarthy did about as good as they could have with the hand they were dealt.

Republicans do themselves a big disservice when they start attacking those who have tried to lead under these kind of conditions.

Screw Boehner and screw the GOP. Conservatives have no place in that party. The sooner we realize this the sooner we can move on and start a third party. In the short term it won’t be pleasant, but the crap is going to hit the fan anyway.

Ive been thinking all day about the hammer falling on us and as an optimist I see a new beginning. Those that stood tall will be vindicated very soon and the DC cocktail party set is going to feel real heat.

Those of us that have been fighting for yrs and LOSING will see a reversal soon.
0bamacare and 0bama himself will self destruct....and the handful of Senators/Reps will come back swinging.

No. Boehnor isn’t acting any different than he did prior to being re-elected Speaker. Only a handful opposed him last time. They were duly spanked. The GOP rank and file has no guts. All talk.

Expect more of the same.
