SEATTLE -- A jogger was so angry at being confronted by an escaped pit bull that he choked its (sort-of) owner with the dog's own leash Sunday night in Queen Anne, according to the Seattle Police Department.
According to police report for the incident, the jogger was in the 1600 block of 10th Avenue West around 8:50 p.m. when a pit bull ran in front of him and started to growl. The jogger yelled at the dog, and it ran behind a bush.
The jogger later told officers he yelled, "Who owns this dog? Come and get him" before seeing a man walking down the sidewalk calling for a dog by its name.

Really not giving up on his line of questioning, the jogger asked a third time if the pit bull belonged to the man. This time the man said the dog belonged to his brother and parents.
According to the report, the jogger then took things up a notch by telling dog's pedantic not-owner: "You're a lying [expletive]. You know the dog's name, and you have the dog leash around your neck. [Expletive] you."
The jogger told officers he was so angry about the pit bull not being on its leash that he grabbed the leash from the man's shoulders, wrapped it around his neck and started choking him, pulling him to the ground.
A witness in a nearby house saw what was happening, ran outside and tackled the jogger to get him off the man, according to the report.
Officers arrived, and the victim explained the pit bull escaped when his brother took out the garbage. When he went to find it, the jogger started yelling at him and then attacked him, he said.

Ok. I've made the prior comment "it's the people, not the pit". Let 'em fly. I've got my 5 shots of SoCo 'armor' and packin' heat. I can take it. Frankly, this is friggin' hilarious to me.
I wonder if the jogger has had his distemper shots.
The dog was no fool.
This is exactly correct. The jackasses who walk dogs unleashed are the problem. Dog owners give dogs a bad name.
He should have said “Does your dog bite?”
My mother's parents had one and she remembered that when ANYONE passed by them on a walk...the pit bull growled.
Niiice doggie!
Can’t really defend the jogger but understand his anger.
Joggers (and walkers and everyone else) needs to have protection with them of some sort (mace, heavy stick, gun or whatever) because too many people are not responsible with their dogs.
It is sad that an animal might have to pay a high price for the irresponsibility of its owner. But the way I look at it, better the dog than me.
Know what?
I completely understand the mindset of this jogger.
Somehow, some way, for some reason, you point a weapon at me, I don’t get scared, I get rip roaring, freakin, bottom of the stomach ANGRY.
A pit bull is a weapon. And some folks react violently when confronted with violence. And I don’t blame him, cause I know EXACTLY how it feels.
Its the way some people react!
And we all know, his next statement would have been, "I thought you said your dog doesn't bite"
“Officers arrested the jogger... “
Good. He sounds like a psycho.
But it doesn't apply here. This story is about a dog. That scene is about a duggeh.
Ok. I've made the prior comment "it's the people, not the pit".Your comment aside, for some strange reason the majority of articles about dog attacks involve pit bulls.
I guess they never report all those attacks from border collies and golden retrievers...they seem to just pick only on pit bulls. < /sarcasm >
Not from the dog either.
he's a db
While I do not support jogging, I support the jogger.
Google this: People mauled by pit bulls.
I just noticed today on the local news that a man whose pit bull killed a 7 year old boy was sentenced to 10 years in prison plus 5 years of parole.
I remember when it happened, a really sad story. This was in Panama City, FL.
