Well, I sucked at English, so I won’t dispute it (I’m an engineer), but it’s common Chicago language to say “Lakefront neighborhood” or “Austin neighborhood”, etc. Been that way for since I can remember (and I’m retired).
But then again, we call a sandwich a sammich.
You are probably correct. We in Chicago are known for our own style of language.
We say “pop” others say “soda”.
We’re a big city, but not as refined as New York or LA.
In the south we say “coke”.
