My mother was at a cocktail party in Honolulu many years ago and Buzz Aldrin was there as well. Since she claims to have witnessed UFO's over Whittier, CA in 1952, she had always been curious about ET.

she struck up a conversation with Aldrin and asked him about Apollo 11. He volunteered that he and Armstrong took film and made cursory inspections of alien artifacts near Tranquility Base. In fact he said the only reason Armstrong made such a desperate attempt to land where they did was because that was the only reason we went to the moon.
