No, but it’s possible that when you are used to very sweet things (like artificial sweeteners), you are going to crave more sweets, and over time, whether you are aware of it or not, you will eat more sugary stuff.

I do believe that I am aware of when and how often I eat starches (macaroni, rice, corn) and sweets (cake, cookies, ice cream, etc.). I just don’t eat them. I do not eat cookies, etc. that are made with artificial sweeteners because they contain flour and other starches. I just don’t do it. And drinking a diet coke does not increase what I put in my mouth. Just because there is a potential does not mean an actual occurs.

I began drinking diet coke in the 80s when it first came on the market. Since then, I have eliminated, rather than added, sweets and other starches from my diet.

FWIW, when I go to a birthday party, wedding, etc. I do not indulge in the treats.
