Too active or just need their rear ends busted?”

I’m not the parental police. Reporter said the children were ages 1 and 3, but I would suspect the youngest was closer to two after watching them run around - and it was 9:15 at night when they arrived at the restaurant and ordered. Dad was interviewed on TV and said he felt “disrespected”. They weren’t Amish but couldn’t quite figure out the accent - certainly wasn’t Texan.

I would suspect that the kids were really wound up as children sometimes tend to get when they have missed a nap or bedtime. Mother appeared a bit clueless.

We rarely go to Appleby’s but I don’t recall seeing too many really young children there, particularly that late at night.

When I was very young I can remember going to restaurants with my family Parents Grandparents Aunts and Uncles etc. You didn't get out of your seat not without a good reason. The adults were in charge.

My daughter went to her first restaurant when she was just over a month old. She is now 18. When she was old enough to walk by herself we still did not allow her to wander around a restaurant. First its dangerous (Harried wait staff carrying large trays of hot food with sharp instruments and glasses and such is a recipe for disaster when a small one dashes in front of them.) Second its rude to the other patrons and the restaurant employees.

The problem with many parents today is they think their child is special and teach them to indulge every whim.

We have a saying in our family: "Its not always about you", there are others to consider.

“They weren’t Amish but couldn’t quite figure out the accent - “

Taking into account their last name and how they are dressed I am going to guess they are really African not “African American” Many Africans I know would actually get dress up in their Sunday best, even their children to got out to eat. Everything from their haircuts, to the woman’s jewerly says that they don’t look “Ghetto”.

It could be they went to eat way too late and the kids were just too tired and fussed too much as we all know kids that age will do. This may have upset others in the place? Who knows

Don’t understand why the manager did not ask the parents to make the kids be more calm if that was the problem. Calling the cops strait up is a little harsh for just a tot throwing a tantrum.
