Sorry but the history says otherwise. Again: first SB to sell out, first SB to have better ratings than the separate championships (technically league) that came before, first SB to have high profile celebrity attendance, first SB to be called Super Bowl. Something had to spawn all that, and it sure wasn’t the matchup everybody thought was going to be another vicious beating of an AFL team by an NFL team.

No, Namath had a so-so game, but it MATTERED because he was popular and exciting, and in so doing helped cement the merger and give us the modern NFL. SBIII was great for it’s place in history, Namath was the winning QB. But in the end the reason he kept having a career is because he could complete passes. Something Tebow can’t do.

When you consider Tebow’s running ability I don’t think Namath is any better.
It was a different game then, a lot more run oriented, the whole timing pattern/ west coast offense thing hadn’t been invented, completion percentages league wide were lower then. Tebow might have succeeded then. That was 40 years ago, it’s a passing league now, now a QB needs to be able to read a defense pre-snap, know which of his guys is going to be open 4 1/2 seconds after the snap, 3 step drop, throw to the guy that will be open when the ball gets there. Tebow has demonstrated he can’t do that.
Tebow has demonstrated that he can win games, more than he loses.
No, he’s demonstrated he can capitalize on a good defense. Giving him the win stats ignores the other 52 on the field. When a team wins a game that the QB completes 10 or fewer passes in declaring they won because of the QB is just stupid, they won IN SPITE of the QB. The facts are in, he’s a bad QB. He got his chances, 4 training camps, 4 coaches, 3 teams, never got higher than 3rd on the depth chart. Time for him, and you, to accept the plainly obvious reality: Tim Tebow is not NFL QB material. Just like the scouts were saying when he was in college.
The same 52 that couldn’t win at the beginning of the season or the same 52 that couldn’t win at the beginning of Manning’s first season.
The same 52 that reduced their average points allowed per game by over 14 when Tebow started. And many of the same 52 that rattled off an 11 game win streak with Manning.
It got to the point where his own college coach, Pete Carroll, wouldn't even give up a single fourth round draft pick for the QB that won him a national championship.
Happens. Although let’s face it, if one safety does his job on one play...
Tebow is a leader, the team responds positively to him, and in the games he played well, he had excellent ball control and scoring efficiency. Tebow plays his best in the 4th quarter and the team knew if they kept it close they could win, which they usually did.
Oh, and Tebow's win in overtime the year before, that last play.......happens.......

And yet he's sitting at home watching the games on TV. Apparently the NFL teams know something about Tebow and his abilities that you don't?
There’s plenty of potential leaders on a team, but there’s one guy paid to complete passes, Tebow had that job title but did not perform the job thus he is gone. And he didn’t have excellent ball control, his throw land in random place on the field, and “scoring efficiency” is a euphemism for “didn’t throw the ball much”. One of my favorite Maddenisms revolves around guys that get a lot of 4th quarter comebacks “the first part of a 4th quarter comeback is being behind after 3”, most coaches would rather have a QB that completes passes in ALL quarters so he doesn’t have to pull miracle comes from behind all the time.
All of which goes to show exactly why it’s so retarded to give one player, especially one player that only completes 10 passes a game, credit for a win. you actually made my point.
Ball control means no turnovers and he did that well in the games he won, which was the majority. The leader of the team on the field is always considered to be the QB, especially when that QB is Tim Tebow.
Ball control means completing passes. Which he doesn’t do. Hitting the grass instead of an opponent is what we call a Pyrrhic victory. QBs aren’t always the leader of a team, they call the plays, but there have been more than a few successful QBs that are not the rabble rousing type. There was chatter this off season about Aaron Rodgers not being a big leader type, but he completes passes.
Heck no, not even close, I spoke about three individual plays after you mentioned one other individual play. I'm not the one claiming one player is so important, that would be you.
