I had a really good belly laugh the other day. My uncle was visiting (to borrow some money) and I had turned off the AC and opened all the windows to air out the house. A palmetto bug flew in the livingroom window and landed on his shoulder, and he totally freaked. He jumped up, slapping at himself and screaming “Get it off me! Get it off me!”
I just cracked up with uncontrollable laughter. There were tears in my eyes. You would think a giant poisonous scorpion had just crawled up his butt.
For those of you who live up north, a palmetto bug is a giant flying cockroach that lives in the trees outside.

Friend, years ago I did demolition work in NYC , tearing down and renovating old buildings. Been down below Manhattan and the Bronx in some funky old buildings and I saw cockroaches, that flew, and were about as big as a damned sparrow, I kid you not. Hit them things with a shovel and they’d keep moving. You had to wallop them ugly ass things two or three times before they stopped moving.
