From elementary school my son was a self-motivated “Mr. Sports,” playing soccer, basketball, baseball and football. In HS he played varsity baseball and football. In football he was team captain and MVP for his senior year. Went on to play division III college football. He probably had 15 or 20 different head coaches through the years and almost all of them were douches. One baseball coach even accepted a vacation trip from a parent desperate for his mediocre kid to play. And the kid played!
