He was inexperienced at parachuteless landings.

Suicide as a cause makes the most sense. You aren’t about to fall out of a strapped on rig.

You don’t need a parachute to skydive. You need a parachute to skydive twice.

23 years old and 600 'jumps'?
The guy certainly liked his sky-diving (at least the first 599 of them).

If at first you don’t succeed, skydiving is not the sport for you.

In the first part of the story it says he died at a “hospital,” then further down it states that “the deceased skydiver” was found north of the airport. Which is it?

It wasn’t the fall that killed him.
It wasn’t that sudden stop at the end of his fall that killed him.
It was the hospital.

He probably loosened up to make the ride up comfortable and forgot to tighten up.

Back in the late 80s a skydiver was killed near Garden City, KS. His reserve chute had a pin left in it. When he had to deploy it, it couldn’t open.
According to the newspaper, the reserve chute was sealed and it was basically a death sentence to whoever had to use it.

Condolences to the loved ones, but that’s just one of the things that bothers me.
What is the point of doing these senseless-danger activities, when all you do is die stupidly and leave people grieving for no good reason?
