LINDSAY, Ont. — There’s going to be the odd time when police can’t help you -- like, say, when you call them to ask how to protect the $6,000 in marijuana plants you’ve got growing in your house.
Police said a woman called Wednesday seeking tips on how to prevent someone from breaking into her home and stealing her pot plants.
“She didn’t want to get violently robbed,” Sgt. Terry Cox said.
It was an odd request, Cox said, and the officer on the other end of the line reminded the woman that she was talking to a police officer on a recorded line.
“The officer she spoke to actually cautioned her,” Cox said.
Nevertheless, the woman proceeded with her inquiry. The officer jotted down the information, and the drug enforcement unit paid a visit to her home Friday morning.
Dolly Russell, 46, was charged with production of marijuana and possession of marijuana. She is to appear in court Sept. 19.
The plants were seized by police.
No dogs were shot, all is well.
She must be a transplanted Kalifornian.
See? Canadians can be stupid too.
I had a renter; a couple in their late ‘50’s; “boyfriend, girlfriend” if you can believe it. Apparently he beat her regularly and the deputies could find the place blindfolded. So, one day they’re both drunk and he’s beating her. So, she calls 911. Within sight of the door were 48 pot plants, half of which were under the porch.
The three deputies calmed things down, put them to bed, then left. Later that night; 2:00 AM according to the neighbors, the sheriff hit them with 12 SWAT team members armed with automatic weapons and an assault vehicle.
This is SO stupid on so many levels. (The SWAT guys smashed in MY door. I assure you all they had to do was knock.)
When I was in college a student called the campus police to report another student had stolen his pound of pot. The police arrested them both. (Twofer.)
If this was the US I would say she was an Obama voter, but why point out the obvious? It’s the same line of thinking isn’t it? Call the cops to protect her drugs - Vote for the guy who will screw up her life, same freakin’ thing.
So, they needlessly risked people’s lives, including law enforcement, when they could have arrested them easily.

When they do that, who pays for the door? The police, the insurance company (to raise your rates later), or you (getting only the sec. deposit for compensation?
she must have been educated in an American public school?

Because I had a stalker with his own “gang” who came onto my property several times; anybody who burst in might cause a tragedy. Yeah, I’d die, but I wouldn’t be the only one. All the cops have to do is send the average person a letter.
I drove by one of those temporary lighted signs in a bad section of town. I was so disbelieving of what it said, I turned around and drove back. It read, “If you have outstanding warrants, you can turn yourself in for free at this address for the next four days only.” So I asked a cop buddy at the gym how that had worked. After he stopped laughing, he said they’d had (I think 24) people turn themselves in, because they didn’t realize it cost money and free was too good to pass up.
They didn't even have to knock. They were already there.
“When they do that, who pays for the door?”
The police do not pay for anything. You have to sue them and it costs $5,000 down and $500/hour to run the “justice” system. In this case, the boyfriend was a decent carpenter. They didn’t want me to know about any of this, so he replaced the door and fixed the frame; including paint. That’s probably about $400-500. I pretended I didn’t know anything. (Believe me, the neighbor had me on speed dial, so I was fully informed. He went over and propped the door back in place as they had some very expensive stuff anybody could have just walked off with.)
She needs a psychological workup.
The country is in a middle ground, limbo type state of defining what about pot use is legal or illegal. This woman was foolish to call the cops on this, but she may have a ‘doctor’s prescription’ to use marijuana for some physical ailment. It’s becoming more commonplace.
There was a public facility a few miles away in Oakland Ca. providing medical Mary Jane to the locals. The nearby businesses never liked having that class of clientele there, shabby (desperate) looking folks toking and loitering all day. The business group finally succeeded in having the pot shop closed the heck down! After two weeks of handwringing, and violin playing, somebody with political pull made the courts reverse that decision. I’m glad I don’t need to take it, or don’t think I need to, not with all these unsettled rules that change from incident to incident.
There’s millions of dumb Canadians, who love socialism, love Muslims, love tree hugging. I’m not Canadian though, I’m Albertan.

She probably WAS an Obama voter. After all, dead people voted for Obama, why not Canadians? She is, however, a real maroon.
They couldn't have been very healthy then.
Pot needs full sun to develop.
