When I was a teenager in school one of the mothers came before us and begged the girls never to get an abortion like she did. She said it has been mental agony from the day she did it.

The clinic phone worker is taught to psychologically grab the woman who calls by asking when her last period was. The woman answers with a date and then the clinic worker "figures out" the woman's due date and tells the woman when she will be due.

Without a pregnancy test the clinic worker confirms the woman's fears by giving her a due date.

The reason this is done is to make sure that the woman will not call another clinic and give that other clinic the money for the abortion.

Meanwhile, the woman dutifully goes into the clinic and has the abortion. And she may not even be pregnant.

The technique works like a charm.
