Study Shows Highest-Ever Abortion-Breast Cancer Risk for Women

A newly-published study shows the highest-ever abortion-breast cancer risk for women of any previously-published study on the link between the two.

A Bangladesh study published in the Journal of Dhaka Medical College on risk factors for breast cancer, led by Dr. Suraiya Jabeen, found a statistically significant 20.62-fold increased risk among women with abortion histories. The new study on the abortion-breast cancer link is by far the highest risk elevation reported among 73 published abortion-breast cancer studies.

“Physical inactivity, being menopause, positive family history of breast cancer and history of induced abortion were found important risk factors,” the authors wrote.

Professor Joel Brind, a professor at Baruch College, City University of New York who is an expert on the abortion-breast cancer link, said the reason why the risk elevation is so high is because it’s “a measure of relative risk.”

Observing that women in Bangladesh have very traditional childbearing patterns that reduce breast cancer risk, he explained: “Almost all the women are married (97% currently married; the rest widowed) and with child by the time they are 20, and all of the kids are breastfed. Ninety percent had their first child at age 21 or younger (99% of controls did). They typically neither take contraceptive steroids nor have any abortions. Nulliparity (childlessness) or abortion before first full term pregnancy (both of which mean no breastfeeding) in a population in which breast cancer is almost unheard of, makes the relative risk very high.”

Brind continued: “Although the authors did not include a measure of their abortion link’s statistical significance, their raw data was complete enough to calculate a 95% confidence interval of 12.85-32.51, making abortion by far the strongest and most significant risk factor observed in these Bengali women. In plain English, women in this population who had any induced abortions were more than 20 times as likely to get breast cancer, compared to women with no abortions.”

According to the study, additional minor reproductive factors influencing breast cancer risk included: use of oral contraceptives (1.47-fold increased risk); early first birth at or before age 21 (0.35-fold reduced risk); having two or more children (0.29-fold reduced risk); and increased number of months spent breastfeeding (0.30-fold reduced risk).

Bangladeshi study??? Oh PUL-EEEEEEEZE.

Bangladesh is a LOST country. Dhaka is one of the worst, if not the worst, places on this planet.
I lived in the middle east for five years and KNOW, without a doubt, that Bangladesh is the poorest, most MISERABLE place in the world. There a person could make a ton of MONEY if he owned a 10-foot piece of rope. He could RENT OUT the rope all day long and make money. SO sad a place.

It's no coinkinkydink that Dhaka rhymes with ka-ka. I pity the poor souls from there.

For the reasons you said I bet abortion is rampant.

So the results of the study are invalid simply because you don’t like Bangladesh?

This is interesting. Another possible factor that used to be mentioned is underwire bras.

I don't BELIEVE the results, plain and simple. I lived in the middle east and have known Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, Saudis, the whole nine yards and THEY all told me what a pit-hole that poor country is.
I don't believe the results also because I know FIRST HAND how those newspapers in those countries LIE. It's almost a joke to hear about "studies."

Side note: I also did research (before I was retired) and know that one has to publish details on numbers of subjects, methodology, etc. Those studies have to be valid based on a body of knowledge from said researchers that is known for research reliability.

Don't believe me. Ask those folks who might have lived in the middle east. Ask THEM about the reliability of "Bangladeshi research."

I will say this. Their Bangladeshi language is known for its musicality. They are said to have the most beautiful poetry. They are also famous for their songs and music. I heard enough middle eastern music! THEIRS is quite nice, even if I don't understand the language.

The music of the middle east doesn't have the octaves of notes that the West has...it's mostly done within a range of only eight or so notes. They use half and quarter notes and slide between them with great ease and beauty. They do use vibrato, a lot. That use of whole, half and quarter notes in middle-eastern music is used to make up for the higher/lower ranges of Western music.
That is, you hear baritones for men, not tenors, bassos or basso profundos. You hear only sopranos for women, no mezzo sopranos, coloratura sopranos or altos.

It takes getting used to that music, but like many tastes, they are acquired.

My girlfriend Linda is a 44 DD and used the underwire bra. She always PINGED at the airport security. She doesn't anymore so I guess they somehow managed to side-track the "bra ping."
I have two artificial hips and they still ping but there are very good scanners that show that my hips are not lethal.

For the reasons you said I bet abortion is rampant.

From what I remember they LOVE their children and consider them all a blessing--girls included. They don't do abortion. They consider it anathema. They don't trust those who would offer "birth control." It's not a solvable problem in my eyes. But, who knows.
The grinding, horrific poverty drives many to leave their children, girls first, of course, then, even boys, on doorsteps of less poor people. I suppose they believe that gives their babies SOME chance of survival.

The Catholic missionaries have reported on this for a long time. They are tolerated in the Muslim country because they do try to save the discarded babies.

However, that was some 10 years ago. Maybe the government has booted all the missionaries out. That I don't know. It is possible. Allah's will, perhaps. I heard THAT expression a lot too.
