Bought some 9mm plinking ammo from Palmetto State a couple weeks ago.
When big sis left, ammo became available. Odd, huh?
No, I actually think the manufacturers have been going all out for the past 8 months and warehousing most of it until they could get good quantities on the shelves. Sure, they’ve put some out along the way, but now they’re really dumping it (in a good way) into the market. I think doing it this way they avoid the guys buying the limited quantities and then re-selling (scalping) it on Gunbroker.
For the first time in a looong time I have seen ads for 10,000 rds of 5.56 for something just under $9k.
She called me when she was there and asked "how much should I buy?"
I said ALL OF IT.
Here in IL where I live, we haven't been able to FIND .223 or 9mm, and when you did, it was maybe a few boxes here or there. So when I said "all of it" I figured Cabela's had a few boxes.
Her response: "there's over 100 boxes of .223 with 500 rds in them, and I can't count all the 9mm. Sure you want me to buy it all?" (she said rather sarcastically...)
Suffice it to say, I'm rather well re-supplied and I was amazed when she showed me the receipt. .223 was less than 30 cents a round, 9mm was about 37 cents a round buying in bulk.
Not bad as best I could tell.
