the social security question is a good one. I imagine if you renounce you lose it. Could just go expat, still collect it - but they would want taxes and probably haunt you the rest of your life like the Nazis did to their expats.

SS will probably be bankrupt anyway so I would take my chances without it.

Social Security Benefits are paid to all who have qualified, whether U.S. citizens or not. There are specific Nations where SSA beneficiaries cannot receive payments due to lack of various treaties etc., but they are few.
