This and John Frankenheimer’s Grand Prix are the two best films with stories involving racing ever produced. And both had major effects on the way racing events were presented on TV that carry on today.

Le Mans was much more a racing story, and that’s the way McQueen wanted it.

I have high hopes for Ron Howard’s “Rush” coming this fall. He is the best pure storyteller of our time, and he respects the subject.

I saw the trailer for “Rush” as well; I’m looking forward to it - Ron Howard is a solid filmaker. I rank “Apollo 13” as one of the best films of the last 30 years.

Have you seen this one? Essentially, Howard Hawks took his "Only Angels Have Wings" story and replaced South American mail pilots with NASCAR race drivers.
