Dennis Farina - Dead

Dennis Farina -- who starred as Det. Joe Fontana on "Law & Order" -- died today in Scottsdale, Arizona after suffering a blood clot in his lung. He was 69.

Farina is a Hollywood legend -- who appeared in tons of classic films and TV shows including "Get Shorty," "Snatch" and "Midnight Run." He also appeared in HBO's series "Luck."

Loved him in Crime Story, hated him in Law and Order.

Thank you, as I recall Crime Story it was fantastic, especially in its first year. He was fantastic and I always remember him as starring in that show.

Never saw L&O. Haven’t watched TV (other than NFL and a nature show or two) since Crime Story and Miami Vice.

He was a fine actor.

When I was in the hospital last month, the number one concern of the MD’s and nurses was blood clotting, especially with the lung puncture. I had to breathe into a handheld device ‘x’ times per hour and I got anti-clotting injections every night in my stomach.

He was great in the Crime Story TV series circa 1985...Directed by Michael Mann. His later roles were kind of a caricature, him playing Dennis Farina. RIP!

Farina and Jerry Orbach were excellent actors. They will be missed.

L&O was great drama, but political correctness seemed to have killed it. Farina’s character was phony, which is a shame, ‘cause like you said, he was great in Crime Story.
