An Arizona police officer has been fired after he made an early morning stop at a local gas station, wearing his bulletproof vest and pointing his service weapon at the clerk.

Off-duty Tuscon Police Officer Kyle James McCartin, 23, and a friend entered the station early Tuesday shirtless beyond the bulletproof vests and appeared to be intoxicated, according to the station clerk. In the security-camera footage, the men made no attempts to disguise themselves or hide their faces. Both of the men appear to pay for their goods. Following the completion of their transactions, the two men left the station on foot. They were later apprehended by McCartin’s colleagues at Tuscon PD. McCartin, on the force since September, has been fired and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault.

This jerk will end up working security somewhere. Hopefully it’ll be a mall, and all he will be able to do is throw his whistle.

Increasingly the caliber of people in police uniforms is becoming indistinguishable from street gang members.

Charged? Wake me when the Wall of Black/Blue puts this douche behind bars, like they would have for any of the serfs who would ‘dare’ do the same.

I thought there mental examinations along with physical and intelligence? Apparently at this P.D. you can fail two out of three and still be hired.

As time passes the folks doing the screening become as suspect as the garbage they’re supposed to be screening out. It’s the inexorable decline of the culture; get used to it.

There are thousands like him all over America. They have no business being police.

Nope he'll be back in a police force someplace before too long. You have to realize that endangering citizens is not the sort of thing that police administrations worry about. Not making quota on tickets, now that is a lot more serious.

What is the starting pay for his department?

When I see police departments that post starting salaries
of $30K and under I cringe. You are dumpster diving for the very lowest quality candidates at that point. Which is just asking for stuff like this to happen.

Nope he'll be back in a police force someplace before too long.

Case in point....the son of an acquaintance of my wife who is a police officer in a suburban department here. His washing machine quit working, so he just decided to break into a neighbor's house and use theirs!

Was charged with breaking and entering, but the owner of the house dropped the charges cause he did not want to be stuck on the local police department's shiite list forever. The guy is still working as a cop there.

He will move to some small town force where he can bully people for failure to grovel before him.

...throw his whistle? Or blow his whistle? I suppose he would blow his whistle first and could throw it if the perp didn't stop.

I hope his dog is not named Whistle.

Don't kid yourself. There are plenty of "income opportunities" to kick this way up.
