Culture shock is real. Had someone from New York City move into our rural area and they were shocked by the gun shots in the distance in the early morning thinking it was criminals shooting people. Had to explain that it was just dove hunters.

Moved from Jersey to Pumpkintown. Kept fishing, started shooting, hunting and racing motorcycles. I’m still traumatized by the move.

I lived in California most of my life.

Then I drove to Mexico City seven times in two years and underwent culture shock every time. CULTURE SHOCK!

Then my husband and I worked for ARAMCO and lived in Saudi Arabia for five years. CULTURE SHOCK!

I used to think that Mexico was filthy. Then I got to the Saudi Arabia. Mexico looked clean.
Then we traveled to India for almost a month. India made Saudia Arabia look SWISS!

Then we went to China for several weeks. China made India look Swiss.

There and then I decided to travel to places where I could always drink the water, find a clean public toilet (China has no public toilets. Let me rephrase that: China has almost no toilets. The ones they had were...well, remember, INDIA made China look clean. OOOOooo, let's talk about something else.) and enjoy the travel without worrying ONE IOTA about getting sick.
So far so good.

THANK YOU, Lord, for letting me born in a FIRST-WORLD country!!!! THANK YOU!!!

That’s strange.

Most big city people [like me] know that gun shots mean people shooting people. That’s the way it is in my neighborhood. We don’t shoot birds in Los Angeles.

I don’t know, I live in a foreign country and the culture shock wears off after a year or so. I live in Central Europe.

I’ve been to China, the middle east, asia...

I like most places I’ve visited and could live in many of them. Two places I would not like to live are:
Turkey
Bucharest, Romania

I’ve been to Turkey 3 times and do not like it at all.
Bucharest Romania was depressing. I and a few others I know decided we would not like to visit it ever again. I was there twice though.

If I were to relocate... my top choices:
1.) Thailand
2.) Singapore (expensive though)
3.) Kuala Lumpur (Muslim thing, but bearable)
4.) China
5.) The Ukraine
6.) Italy (climate)
7.) Spain
8.) Berlin
9.) London (Opportunity)
10.) Croatia

Saudi Arabia is no place for a western woman. I almost wish we could send some of our most militant feminists over there for a year or so, they would come back here and appreciate our culture so much more.

One of my main regrets in life is that my career did not take me abroad for extended stays in other cultures. I have visited other countries enough however to realize that for all its warts, the United States is a great place to be.

I DO wish that our feminazis WOULD go over there. I remember that when we got back I KISSED the ground of the USA, the BEST place in the world.

The women-who-hate-being-women (a.k.a. militant men-hating women) would only have to be there one little day to fall in love with this wonderland-USA. They would LOVE our warts. (Obamawart)

Side note: Saudi Arabia is no place for ANYONE. The best places on earth were FOUGHT over for tens of thousands of years. The Bedouins got what no one else wanted.
God's cosmic joke: the Saudis landed on the biggest pile of petroleum and natural gas ON THE PLANET. Go figure.
